What is a Murmuration and why did we choose this name?

Murmurations are named for the sound of a low murmur made by thousands of wing beats and soft flight calls. It is one of the most dazzling displays in the world. A murmuration is emblematic of unity, that we are stronger together and that cooperation is integral to success. Coming together to protect each other using the “safety in numbers” tactic. It is also symbolic of intuition and change. There is no leader and no plan, achieving communal benefits through unspoken collaboration.

Many groups in nature form for protection and community. In nature, murmurations are formed by starlings which are an invasive species of bird. We are focused on bringing people together. Our mural consists of different native Missouri birds, along with a few others. This world is beautiful and contains many types of people coming together to create community.

Thank YOU for being part of our community.
